When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I really only had one answer: To travel and to be happy.
But there was one big thing standing in my way. I was terrified of flying. I was the girl who would take the Greyhound 23 hours one way from college in NC back home to NY because I couldn’t bring myself to take the couple hour flight.
But there came a point in time when my soul yearned to see places, experience cultures and people, and touch buildings that were older than my country- I couldn’t do this on a Greyhound bus.
I had to get over my fear. The few times I was on a plane when I was young, I remember looking to the flight attendants for reassurance. I knew if they looked calm, then everything must be okay. So I decided the best way to get over my fear was to face it head on. I applied to become an International Flight Attendant– and got the job. I’m not gonna lie, before my first flight -15 hours nonstop and over an ocean!- I may have had a tiny panic attack in the airport. But I don’t regret a thing because now I love flying!
After that, I also worked for a large well known airline as an International Reservations Agent. My day consisted of booking flights, re-accommodating people on cancelled flights, answering all sorts of questions, and booking award travel.
For the past few years I’ve also written my Travel Blog. Now, adding Travel Agent to my work history seemed like the next logical step!
For me, planning the details of travel is half the fun of going on the trip in the first place!! I enjoy booking travel for others and showing people how they can have more Freedom, be their Own Boss, and get discounts on their own travel by doing what I do!
